Nearly Nightly : Since I go many weeks without picking up my camera I figured something needed to be done about it. I have no illusions that I will actually do this ever day but I'll at least give it a try. Who knows, maybe I'll learn something along the way, or you might learn something about me.

There are no set rules for me to do this but I'll force myself to be in at least some of the photos since I'm never in any pictures.

2008-05-21 (Day 19)

Isn't this what everyones B&H box looks like when they open it up? I got some new toys and will be putting them through their paces over the next couple days. So far I like them a lot. I also got a box from RRS, Borrowglass.com, and Phoxle. It's going to be a busy weekend.

Happy friday the 13th! It's a good day for me but not so much for my boss. I put in my notice at work today and it was a lot like breaking up from a long relationship. I enjoyed my job and the coworkers at it but sometimes you need to take a leap of faith and go for what you think is best for you. Welcome to my new home office. Well the only thing new about it is that it's where I'll be working from. I really need to clean my desk off don't I? If it's not obvious enough, can anyone guess who my new employer is?

Happy Birthday to me! I didn't feel like taking a new photo today so you get one from yesterday of my uncle's dog Sunshine. It was a good weekend. I could use an extra day off to catch up on sleep and do some laundry though.

2008-05-14 (Day 12)

I've been freaking out all day. I can't sit still and my mind is flying through everything while not concentrating on anything. I don't know why I felt like this today but it was really annoying. I got off work at about 11:30 PM, went home and went for a bike ride. By the time I got home it was after 2AM. I just kept going and going trying to wear myself out.

I feel so-so about this photo. It's three exposures blended together. Two for the building and one for myself. I've never done a night shot like this before with flash so it was a learning experience. I should have boosted the flash power up about a stop or two and it would have been nice to have something up higher to sit the flash on instead of the ground. I guess I'll have to try this one again some time.

If anyone is wondering the building behind me is the Riverside Library. It was one of only a few buildings I could find with lights still on it. I wanted to get the watertower with the moon behind it but the lights were off.

2008-06-21

I'm packing up to go to California for a week. Heading out to SM headquarters for training. It should be fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the Smuggers I know and the rest of the Support Hero's that are in Cali.

As a side note, the Smug Sorcerers have really outdone themselves with the latest update. Especially the new Smug Vault. If you have no idea what I'm taking about check out the News tab in your control panel or check out the Release Notes Blog.

What triggers my brain to think "Hey it's 10:30PM at night, a perfect time to vacuum and then wash all the floors in my apartment!"? Especially when I still have wedding photos to process?

For me being so inflexible you'd be surprised how often I stick my foot in my mouth.

2008-06-08

Yesterday I went to another fantastic wedding. This time it was the area so it was nice not to have a 7 hour car ride home the day after. Today I culled the photos from yesterday, fell asleep a couple times on the couch, went for coffee with my ma, and finally ended up at the Chicago Blues Festival in Grant Park. The music was good, BB King was the main act and was great. He plays so effortlessly it's amazing to watch. The sound was too quiet but I can't really complain since it's a free show. The weather has been hot and miserably humid here the last couple of days so it was nice that it cooled off some today and the humidity was bearable. This is sunset from Grant Park as we listened to great Blues.

2008-05-04 (Day 2)

I got of my butt today and went for a bike ride. I enjoy riding through the woods and should really do it more. For a while I was doing 10 miles a day a couple days a week but that was a couple years ago and I'm starting over from scratch. I would like to be abe to do 40-50 miles in a day but for now I'll settle with 5.

2008-05-05 (Day 3)

Haircut
I got a haircut on Saturday after I took Saturday's picture but you couldn't really tell from Sundays picture. Personally I could care less what my hair looks like but it was just getting too hot with the weather warming up. So after 9 months I finally got a haircut.

The only room with good light in my apartment is the bathroom. I used the 50 f/1.4 at f/2 sitting on the window sill in the shower. I would not suggest doing a SP at f/2. The DOF is just too small and I was lucky to get my eye in focus.

2008-05-16 (Day 14)

Friday night and I'm doing laundry. I'm just out of control. Somebody better slow me down.

It's been two weeks now and I may not post an image each day but I've been taking one each day and post it the next sometimes. I'm surprised I've been this good about it. I've even managed to make it a self portrait each day. I don't know how much longer I'll keep that up though.

I really need to get a point and shoot. Carrying around a DSLR is not fun all the time. Maybe I'll go shopping this weekend.

2008-05-27 (Day 25)

I really wasn't in the mood to take a picture today. I've been surrounded by friends for the past 5 days and then today I woke up alone in my apartment and had to go to work. I stayed in bed as long as I could, not because I was tired but because I just didn't want to face the world today, not alone. Then my friend invited me over to watch some TV and just hang out after work and I felt a little better. When I got home I had a package waiting for me. Some gear I had lent to a friend. But then I opened it up and it brought a huge grin to my face. 6 wee bottles of Scotch Whisky and a Vegetarian Haggis. I went from feeling crappy and almost not taking a picture for the first time in almost a month to smiling and continuing something I started because of her. Thanks Steph, you really made my day. This also reminds me that I have a couple things I need to put in the mail.
